What is a Workforce Center?
The Chicago Workforce Centers and community-based affiliate organizations offer high
quality services and assistance to Chicago job seekers and employers. Located
throughout the city, these agencies provide Chicagoans with the resources needed to
find and keep good-paying jobs.
The Chicago Workforce Centers and affiliates are part of Mayor Daley's Worknet Chicago,
MOWD's service delivery system of over 100 organizations city wide.
What is WIA?
The Workforce Investment Act (W.I.A) was established in 1998 to implement local job
training and employment programs for people across the United States.
The W.I.A.'s purpose is to provide workforce investment activities that increase the
employment retention and earnings of participants, and increase occupational skill
attainment of participants.
Who is eligible for services?
Chicago residents over the age of 18 may be eligible for all services. There is no cost to
the customer.
